We are celebrating Matariki in Room 5.
Here we are learning about the stars of Matariki.
The Matariki Stars song is here: Matariki Waiata
We have been reading the book called Matariki Breakfast. We thought about what could be in the pot for breakfast. Some ideas were porridge, butter chicken, soup and chop suey. We decided to make our own Matariki breakfast of soup and bread.

We were also very lucky to try on the very special Hamilton East School korowai, that hangs in Room 7, which was the first school house built way back in 1872.
We have also been learning a new song Te Aroha, to sing for Matariki, and to practice our te reo, as well as New Zealand sign language.
